Scrip Help: Questions and Answers

Q. Is participation mandatory?

At this time, no.  We are using the closing few months of this school year as a test run for building a very strong scrip program for years to come.  If your student is going to be in band next year, the remainder of this year will get you a good head start on next year, when participation likely will be required.

Q. How often can I order?

As often as you'd like to!  We recommend placing an order either weekly or every other week.  This recommendation applies to orders for physical cards only.  You can place ScripNow! or Reload orders using PrestoPay any time, day or night!

Q. How often will orders be processed?

Typically speaking, we process orders on Friday.  The order deadline is 10:00 AM on Friday.  However, there may be times when processing is delayed due to limited number of orders.  We must cover shipping costs for each order.  In the event that your order is affected by such a delay, you will be notified by email.  (To date we have not had any delays.  The more families that participate and order, the less likely such a delay becomes!)

Again, this policy applies to orders for physical cards only.  All ScripNow! and Reload orders using PrestoPay are processed immediately.

Q. When will orders arrive?

Typically speaking, orders are available for pickup at the Band Hall at 3:30 PM on the next Friday after the order was placed, barring any backorders.

Q. What is "ScripNow!"?

ScripNow! is electronic gift cards.  You place your order just like you would for any other card, but instead of having to wait until a physical card is shipped, your card is delivered to you electronically, via email.  You just click the link in the email, print the card, and then take it to the store and shop just like normal.  ScripNow! saves both time and money, as we don't have to pay shipping!

Q. What are "Reload orders"?

Reloads are as simple as they sound.  Certain participating merchants' cards are reloadable via ShopWithScrip.com.  With these merchants, you order a physical card, and then you simply "reload" the card through the website.  Like ScripNow!, this saves both time and money!

(Note: While some merchants' cards are reloadable at the store, they are not yet reloadable through ShopWithScrip.com.  In order to earn the rebates, you *must* reload the cards through ShopWithScrip.com.  Reloading at the store will not earn any rebates.)

Q. Can I order online?

Yes!  Not only can you, but that is the only way we are currently accepting orders.  Online ordering makes it extremely convenient for you and the coordinator.

Q. Can I pay for my order with a credit card?

The merchant receiving payment via credit card pays a percentage of the sale to the credit card company for each payment, which is known as a "discount fee".  Because of this, credit cards are *not* accepted as payment for scrip orders, as the discount fee would eliminate the merchant's ability to give us a rebate.

Q. Can I pay for my order with a check?

We strongly encourage each family to use PrestoPay for order payment.  Payment is processed immediately, enabling the order to go through right away.  We will allow payment by check if circumstance requires, but please be aware that all checks must clear the bank before the order is released.  It could take up to 14 business days for checks to clear.

Q. How is this scrip program made possible?

Our scrip program is made possible by Great Lakes Scrip Center.  GLSC is based in Michigan, and has been helping merchants and non-profit clients since 1994.  During that time they have helped retailers ring up more than $6 billion in sales, while also raising more than $300 million for non-profits like Frenship Band Boosters.

Q. What kind of merchants can I order scrip for?

The list of available merchants is very, very long.  If they're a national merchant, they're probably taking part in the scrip program.  You can view an updated list of merchants here.

Q. How do I order on ShopWithScrip.com?

Ordering is a very simple process, but we understand that sometimes you just need to "see" it before you can "see" it.  Thankfully the fine folks at GLSC know this, and have produced a User's Guide for ShopWithScrip.com.  You can view it here.
